Henderson County did exceptionally well in the 2015 America

in Bloom judging, our 2nd year participating in the program.

Henderson County received 4 Blooms out of a possible 5, or

77.3% of possible points.

America in Bloom is a national program that “envisions

communities across the country as welcome and vibrant

places to live, work, and play—benefitting from colorful plants

and trees; enjoying clean environments; celebrating heritage; and planting pride through

volunteerism.”

Henderson County was also nominated for the Best Downtown Street Design,

Heritage Preservation

Fall Colors Explosion

North Carolina Apple Festival – Labor Day Weekend 2015

The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolina.  It has been Western North Carolina’s Leading Family Festival for over 60 years.  From September 4-September 7, 2015 you can enjoy 4 days of fun including one of the most best known Street Fairs in the Carolinas with freshly picked apples, arts & crafts, festival food, and free entertainment at the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s beautiful Main Street.

The event concludes with the King Apple Parade held on Monday, September 7, 2015 at 2:30 p.m..

At the parade, there will be professional floats, bands, youth groups, antique cars, fire trucks and many others participating in this event that will draw over 60,000 individuals.

Please leave your pets comfortably at home.  The City of Hendersonville has an ordinance against allowing pets within the event area.

 

NC Arboretum Garden Inspired by Quilts

North-Carolina-Arboretum-Quilt-GardensA Quilt Garden located near the Heritage Garden at the NC Arboretum in Asheville is an living interpretation of traditional quilt block patterns.  The plants represent he close ties between the heritage crafts, gardening, contemporary art and the craft of quilting in the Southern Appalachian region.  The garden consists of 24 in-ground be divided by a gravel and slate paths or walkways with garden quilt designs changing seasonally.  Visitors can explore the gardens up close using the path walkways between the individual gardens that form the quilt pattern.  And the observation area provides the opportunity to get  an overview of the spectacular garden.

In the tradition of the Greater Tuna series, two actors rush through a series of quick changes, accents and genders to bring you this fast-paced farce. Set on the dark moors in England’s Victorian era, this hilarious comedy was first staged by New York’s Theatre of The Ridiculous and stars Scott Treadway and Preston Dyar.

Content Advisory – 

The play takes place in a deserted house on the moors of England and it is a hysterical farce, VERY thinly disguised as gothic horror story. The humor is farcical and quick-paced. There is no real profanity in the show, but the script is laced with double entendre and winks toward “the serious theatah.”
