Flat Rock Playhouse Announces 2018 Season!

MAINSTAGE SERIES

From the classic Hasbro game live on stage to an Internationally known Broadway blockbuster (the #1 most requested title of which we’ll be able to officially announce in the Spring)… come join us for a season of original works, classic Broadway moments and sidesplitting comedies.

Note: The Plan A package consists of NINE shows on the Mainstage for 2018. The Flex Plan consists of EIGHT tickets for you to use however you want. Call the Box Office for more information and pricing.

Clue:  If you loved the movie, are an aficionado of the board game, or if you just enjoy the unfurling of a great whodunit – you’ll kill to be among the first to see the official stage adaptation of this pop culture favorite before it embarks on a national tour. Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie adaptation and the classic Hasbro board game, CLUE is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. A zany evening of slapstick, slamming doors and some of the funniest one-liners in movie history, CLUE will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches.

The Love List:  A comedy by Norm Foster (The Affections of May). In this side-splitting and thought-provoking new comedy, Leon and Bill concoct a list of attributes of the ideal woman – the top ten best qualities in a mate. When this allegedly “Ideal Woman” actually arrives on the scene the men quickly learn that their list could use a few revisions. Be careful what you wish for – especially in choosing a mate. This old adage leads to hilarious results in Foster’s sparkling com—ic hit.

Broadway on the Rock:  You liked last year’s hit production of Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Music of the Night? You’ll love this celebration of top Broadway Blockbusters fromLes Miserables, Miss Saigon, Wicked, Newsies as well as classic hits from the Golden Age of the Great White Way.

Blockbuster Musical TBA:  This summer Flat Rock Playhouse will be presenting an international phenomenon – a feel good dancing-in-the-aisles musical that electrified Broadway audiences for nearly 15 years!  Since then it has played in more than 50 countries, in all 6 continents, and will be gracing the Flat Rock Playhouse stage for the very first time. Due to our licensing agreement, we are not allowed to divulge the title until April 2018, but we are sure you’re going to love this high-energy musical romp, fun for the whole family!

Always a Bridesmaid: From the writing team behind last year’s smash sensation The Dixie Swim Club. In this rollicking comedy, four friends have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other’s weddings, and hilarity ensues. If you’ve ever elbowed a stranger to catch a bride’s bouquet or have been forced to wear the world’s ugliest bridesmaid dress, this deliriously funny play by Jones Hope Wooten is definitely for you…and your dearly beloved.

The Glass Menagerie:  25 years ago, Flat Rock Playhouse debuted an exciting new program, Project Playhouse, with specially priced matinees for local students as well as regular evening performances for our patrons. The play was Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, a drama of great tenderness, charm and beauty and one of the most famous plays of the modern theatre.

Pickin’ and a Grinnin’: A musical romp through the cornfields with a jug of moonshine in hand. Taking inspiration from classic variety shows of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, this original production will feature some of our favorite Flat Rock Playhouse singer/musicians and is guaranteed to be a foot stomping, hand clapping good time for the whole family. Howdyyyy!

The Hound of the Baskervilles:  This adaptation of the classic crime novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes is a fast paced, wild ride through the fog-shrouded moors of England.  Three actors portray over fifteen characters with lightning fast precision in this highly praised thriller.

Classic Nashville Christmas:  It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Country Music Style! Jason Petty and his Classic Nashville Roadshow cast bring you the greatest collection of country Christmas songs and the stories behind them. Featuring classic holiday hits recorded by Gene Autry, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley.

Thank You

Thank you Mehmet and Lale,
While it was unfortunate that the weather did not cooperate in allowing us to complete our planned visit to western North Carolina, our stay at The Melange was a memorable one.
We have stayed at many B&B’s over the years and have not met more cordial and gracious hosts.  The highlight of our visit was, without doubt, the candlelight tea that you prepared for us. That alone will be a lasting memory.
Best wishes,
Tricia & Bob

Thank You

Thank You for being such gracious hosts. We have enjoyed our stay and the lovely rooms. Breakfasts were wonderful and thanks especially for the special attention when I was not feeling well. Gary and Maureen  G…., Pearl Room

Wedding and Honeymoon

We spent our small wedding and honeymoon at the Melange on Halloween 2002. It was the most wonderful experience. The owners make you feel like you are at home. The rooms was wonderful I felt like a princess and the food was unique and wonderful, we couldn’t wait for the next meal to see what was served and we were never disappointed. For one of the nights the chef made us the most delicious cake – it was the strawberry bavarian creme torte. The grounds and the Melange itself are so beautiful but really secluded right in the middle of Hendersonville. We will be returning to renew our vows in the near future. If you want a unique experience please go to the Melange the place and the people make it a fairytale.
